A new logistics company, BrownX, is quickly making its presence felt in Edo State, offering 30-minute express deliveries and expanding its network of dispatch riders across the region.
The company, which launched operations in Benin City earlier this year, is one of several startups competing in the growing local courier services sector.
According to BrownX, the company currently covers delivery routes spanning from the state capital to surrounding towns including Uromi, Auchi, and Ekpoma.
“We’re seeing a growing demand for faster delivery services, especially among small businesses and online vendors. Our approach has been to build a reliable system supported by technology and trained personnel,” a company spokesperson said.
Industry observers say the growing reliance on dispatch services is being driven by the rise of eCommerce and digital payments, especially among younger entrepreneurs and informal retailers. However, concerns about service reliability and security remain high in parts of the state.
BrownX says its platform includes real-time delivery tracking and SMS notifications, and that its riders undergo verification and regular training.
The company has also begun offering monthly delivery plans targeted at small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), in addition to a door-to-door pickup model that is becoming increasingly common among courier startups.
While BrownX would not disclose its delivery volumes, it claims a steady increase in daily orders and visibility on local search engines.
“We’re focused on integrating digital tools to support logistics,” the spokesperson added, noting that a mobile application is currently in development and scheduled for release later this year.
Analysts say the logistics space in southern Nigeria remains largely unregulated, with many operators running informal services. However, customer demand for speed, transparency, and accountability is beginning to reshape the sector.
As BrownX and other players compete for market share, questions remain around infrastructure, road safety, and whether new entrants can scale sustainably outside urban centres.
For now, the company says it plans to continue building its operations across Edo State while investing in customer support and rider training.
