Breast milk as eye drops

My 6-month-old baby has reddish eyes with a lot of discharge. My friends claim that he has eye infection, which can be cured with breast milk which they want me to squirt into his eyes but I am afraid. Please let me know if it is safe for me to put breast milk into my baby’s eyes.

Milk is a very potent media for infection to thrive, as such, adding milk to an already infected eye is like pouring petrol into fire. Rather than squirting milk into your baby’s eyes, it will be advisable for you to take your baby to the hospital where the doctors will take an eye swab to confirm the nature of the infection and the appropriate medications for his infection.
