Ex-President Buhari refused the associate of their salary because the refused to work meaning the are not entitled to salary, Buhari insisting on the principle of ‘No work; no pay’.

President Bola Tinubu’s administration reversed the ‘no work; no pay’ policy of the previous administration and released the salaries of members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that were previously withheld.

However, this action did not please SSANU and NASU, who felt that their members should also be compensated for their work.

Despite repeated demands for better pay and conditions, the government continued to ignore the needs of SSANU and NASU members. In response, the unions initiated a strike to force the government to take action.
