After four days in captivity, wife of the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Venerable Ayodeji Fagbemi, Ebunoluwa, on Thursday, regained her freedom.
Ebunoluwa was kidnapped by armed men who invaded her home on Monday evening in Oba Ile in Akure North local government area of a Ondo State.
According to a source, the kidnappers who took Ebunoluwa away in her Toyota Jeep demanded N20m as ransom to secure her release.
He disclosed that the abductors had contacted the family demanding for N20 million ransom for her release, while the family said they had no such money.
He however, said that the wife of the clergy was released on Thursday evening to the family but did not confirm if the ransom was paid to secure the release of the woman.
He said the woman was released unhurt and was found along Ibadan – Ikire road in Osun State, saying “I can confirm to you that the woman has been found unhurt and healthy and should be heading to their home in Oba Ile.
“The church has been praying for her safe return since Monday and we are glad to inform you that she has been released. But at the movement I cannot confirm if any ransom was paid.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the development but said his men have been on the trail of the kidnappers.
He said investigation on the matter has commenced assuring that his men would bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.
He said,” our men have commenced serious search to bring the criminals to book but I am glad to inform you that the wan has been released unhurt”
