Former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, was on Wednesday, released from a London prison where he has spent a five-year jail term over money laundering.

Ibori’s jail term expired 12:00 Wednesday.

Confirming the release, one of his close confidants and political sons, Chief Henry Ofa, while on phone to TribubeOnline Wednesday afternoon, said the former country home of generalissimo of Delta politics was already agog.

According to him, as the news filtered into the air of Ibori’s release, the town went in frenzy.

Speaking on the release, Ofa, who’s former commissioner in the board of DESOPADEC, said: “the London court ordered his release today.

Oghara is in celebration mood. People are jumping all around. We’re happy.”

The former commissioner who represented Ethiope East, Sapele and Okpe local government areas of the state, averred that the political equation of the state will change.

“So many things will change politically in Delta State.

We’ll wait for his directive. Anywhere he goes, we’ll follow.

He’s a good leader. He won’t defect to APC. He believes in ideology, not bandwagon effect.

However, we’ll wait for his mind. But we don’t think that will be his agenda,” he noted.
