The suspected hoodlums, who were said to be armed as well, fired warning shots into the air, throwing the whole chamber into a state of confusion before fleeing the scene with the mace.
The hoodlums, who arrived about 10:58 am, were said to have overpowered the Sargent-at-Arms and security operative who couldn’t help the situation, as lawmakers scampered for safety.
It could be recalled that the speaker, for about a week now, had been under intense pressure to resign or face impeachment to give way for another lawmaker.
