Since assuming duty as Commissioner of Police in Oyo State a couple of months ago, Mr Samuel Adegbuyi has been mustering every effort, in conjunction with his officials, to rid the state of criminals. To realise this laudable objective, he has been dispatching police teams to raid the hideouts of criminals in different parts of the state. During the raids, many of the criminals have been apprehended and paraded at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. They include suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, house breakers and thieves, rogues and others of their kind.
By this singular act, Mr Adegbuyi has proved his mettle as a career administrator of note. I feel this should continue as a source of inspiration to others.
The men and officers of the Oyo State Police command deserve commendation. However, there is still much to be done to achieve more successes in future. As the arduous task of getting rid of criminals is not for one man alone, the Federal Government and the Oyo State government are advised to continue assisting the command with necessary facilities to enable it to cope effectively with combating crime.
Members of the public, too, should continue to furnish the command with information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums to achieve the same aim of extirpating crime in the state, while the police should be discreet about the information given to them.
