Boyfriend allegedly stabs live-in lover to death

Late Patience Zakkari after she was stabbed

It was a case of love turning sour when a boyfriend simply called Solomon, a student of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi allegedly stabbed his live-in lover, late Patience Zakkari, to death over a minor disagreement between them.

One of the friends of the love birds who simply called herself Vasty narrated that the two lovebirds have been living together for some times now to the extent that people use to call them husband and wife considering the level of their relationship.

She added that on Friday, the late Patience on her way back to the house at the Students Village passed through the small gate and while trying to go, she came across another male student who accosted her and started chatting with her against her wish.

Vasty further narrated that the boyfriend who was heading to the campus to look for her met them at the small gate and started insulting and calling her names, a development that upset her while she just walked away from the scene to the house.

It was further gathered that the problem continued while at home when the boyfriend was said to have bounced on her late in the night while all efforts to separate them by other students failed. In an effort to free herself, she was said to have hit him with a bottle on the head prompting him too to use the same broken bottle to stab her at the back.

Neighbours rushed her to the hospital for treatment and on Saturday she was confirmed dead having lost too much blood.

While confirming the incident, Bauchi State Police Command through its PPRO, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar said that the case was reported to the Yelwa Division from where the suspect was arrested and taken to homicide department at the Command headquarters for further investigation after which he will be charged to court for prosecution.

When contacted, an official of the Federal Polytechnic who did not want his name mentioned told our correspondent that though the incident happened off-campus, the management will ensure that justice was done, calling on the students to know who they relate with.
