Bowen University, Iwo, established by the Nigerian Baptist Convention in 2001 is celebrating its 20th year of an uninterrupted academic calendar, having produced not less than 12,000 graduates spread across the globe, impacting lives, as well as boosting the economic and technological development of their immediate environments.
Speaking to pressmen during the homecoming programme, Mr Oluwaseun Adesanya, former President, Bowen University Baptist Student Fellowship 2007 set, expressed satisfaction with the development activities ongoing on the campus.
According to him, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ogunwole has created a good avenue for alumni to willingly collaborate with the school authority to move the institution forward.
He described Professor Ogunwole as a visionary intellectual personality, who believes and respect other people’s good ideas and work as a team for the progress of the institution.
He said: “This university is a blessing to Nigeria in many perspectives; in the sense that the university has produced many graduates of high quality, occupying top positions in their respective fields. This is due to the quality of knowledge we had acquired during our undergraduate studies in the university. Godliness and leadership education that the university had impacted on us paved the way for our progress in life. As a matter of fact, graduates of Bowen University are people of integrity and skill.
“We share the opinion that Alumni’s roles in the development process in any the university cannot be overemphasized, for this reason, the homecoming meeting we have just concluded was meant for a reunion of Bowen university alumni, to aggregate all our members across the world to register our involvement readiness in whatsoever that is going on in Bowen University. I am so happy that thousands of our members joined the meeting via audio and video conferencing platform, expressing their readiness to support the vision. At the rate at which Bowen university is growing, I am assuring the general public that 10 years from now, Bowen will be competing favourably well with the world-class universities, home and abroad.”
Speaking in the same vein, Mr Goke Olateju, 2007 set and Joshua Olanrewaju 2014 set, asserted that Bowen university management has been doing well for the progress of the institution.
According to them, it is high time the alumni consolidated its efforts of the management to move the university forward.
“Our dreams and vision for Bowen are to see it attaining the academic status of Oxford University, Harvard University and the likes across the globe.”
