The Anglican Bishop of Akure Diocese, Rev’d Simeon Borokini has been elected as the Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province.
Borokini’s election was announced after a meeting of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion House of Bishops at Abeokuta in Ogun State few days ago.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Diocesan Public Relations Officer, Mr Olumuyiwa Jegede, Borokini emerged after the meeting held at the eve of the consecration service of some recently elected Bishops in the Communion.
It would be recalled that Borokini was on January 9, 2013, elected as Bishop over the Episcopacy of Akure and consecrated as Bishop along side two others at St Jude’s Cathedral, Ebute Meta on February 24, 2013.
The Anglican Province of Ondo is one of the 14 Ecclesiastical Provinces of the Church of Nigeria, comprising 12 Dioceses, while the Archbishop of Ondo gives leadership to the 12 Anglican Dioceses in Ondo and Ekiti States.
The Dioceses are: Akure Diocese, Akoko Diocese, Diocese of the Coast, (formerly Diocese of Ikale-Ilaje), Ondo Diocese, Owo Diocese, Idoani Diocese, Ilaje Diocese, Ile-Oluji Diocese, Irele-Eseodo Diocese, Ekiti Oke Diocese, Ekiti West Diocese, Ekiti Diocese.
