Borno flood: Sen Binani donates N50m, hails victims’ resilience

Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has donated N50 million to flood victims in Maiduguri and Jere cities, Borno State.

Leading a delegation of party leaders and supporters on a sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Binani praised the resilience of the people.

“Maiduguri is home,” she said. “This connection and humanity motivated us to come and commiserate with the governor and the people.”

Binani prayed for the victims, stating, “We know the people of Borno have a high capacity for resilience. May Almighty Allah help them overcome this tragedy quickly.”

Governor Zulum thanked Binani for her determination in showing solidarity despite unfavorable weather conditions.

“Senator Binani flew to Maiduguri yesterday but had to return to Abuja due to bad weather. I told her not to come back, but she insisted, saying Borno is home.”

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum assured that the donated funds would be used judiciously.

“Thank you for the N50 million donation. We’ve constituted a committee, including representatives from the ICPC and EFCC, to ensure the funds reach the rightful beneficiaries.”

He warmly welcomed Binani as a “sister” and expressed appreciation for her kindness.
