Borno ex-gov Ali Modu Sheriff visits Kogi, condoles with Gov Bello over sister’s death, Tawari attack

Former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has paid a condolence visit to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi, over the death of his sister, Hajia Rabietu Bello, and also commiserated with the governor over the attack of Tawari community, in the state.
Hajia Rabietu, an elder sister to Gov Bello, died on December 23, 2019, after an illness.
Also, some unknown gunmen attacked Tawari community on the night of January 2nd, 2020, killing over 23 people, injuring many and burning several houses including a palace and Churches.
Sheriff, who met with Bello at the Government House, Lokoja, on Sunday, in the company of some of his aides, said he was in the state to sympathise with the governor over the loss of his sister, and the recent attack on the state by gunmen.
The former governor prayed God to repose the soul of the late Rabietu and grant fortitude to the governor as well as other members of their family to bear the irreparable loss.
Senator Sheriff also sympathised with the Government and good people of Kogi State over the recent terrorist attacks on Tawari community which led to the loss of about 23 lives and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
He described the incident as heinous, criminal, unfortunate and urged the security agencies to ensure those behind the terror attack on Tawari community, were brought to justice.
Sheriff further sent his condolences to the family of those that lost their loved ones during the attack.
Responding, Governor Bello thanked the former governor for finding time to visit him and identifying with the Government and the people of Kogi at their moments of griefs.
Governor Bello restated that the Tawari killing was a terrorist attack, assuring the former Borno Governor that he would do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that the terrorists faced justice.
