Boko-Haram suspect: The law will take its course ―Ortom’s CPS

GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State, Mr Terver Akase has stated that law should be allowed to take its full course in the arrest of the state commandant of livestock guard, Aliyu Tershaku.

Tershaku was arrested last Friday by Joint Task Force in Makurdi, stating that the suspect is a Boko-haram member who was responsible for the killings in the state in recent times.

Aliyu Tershaku incidentally is the leader of livestock guard saddled with the responsibility of enforcing the new anti-open grazing law in the state.

But the CPS to the governor who reaffirmed the leadership style of governor Ortom said that the governor will not shield anyone suspected to have committed a crime.

Mr Akase while speaking on the arrest of governor’s aide, explained that it was the constitutional mandate of security agencies to arrest anyone suspected to have violated the law.

Akase said: “the law would take its course in the investigation of Teshaku. The decision of Governor Samuel Ortom to uphold justice while intensifying the fight against crime in the state remain untainted.

He said the Governor deserved commendation for his credentials on transparency and honesty in handling issues even when those close to him are involved.

Mr Akase emphasized the Governor’s commitment to ending the killing of innocent Benue people and called on security agencies to intensify surveillance of parts of the state.
