Boko Haram attacks Ajilari village near Maiduguri

SUSPECTED elements of the Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Ajilari village about six kilometers away from Maiduguri, shooting and setting homes ablaze.

The attack which residents say started at about 9:00 pm Saturday night sent several villagers running towards the city making it difficult for security agents to see if there have been massive infiltration in the dark or not.

Eyewitnesses said that “the insurgents stormed the village shooting sporadically into Ajirari Mailari which is about six kilometers away from Maiduguri capital of Borno state killing some residents.

“Lots of residents were seen fleeing from their surrounding communities even around Gomari, to avoid any situation where they will be caught in the crossfire believed to have left casualties on their trail.

“The insurgents were setting our houses ablaze and as we speak currently they have been firing randomly to cause more havoc,” said a source which spoke to the Nigerian Tribune on phone regretting however that there has been no response from the military as at the time of writing this report.

Indeed casualties could not be ascertained as at the time of writing this report but lots of residents were said to have sustained injuries in the desperation that ensued.
