Boko Haram attacks: NYSC DG warns corps members

Published by

THE Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has called on corps members to be security conscious because the Boko Haram members already flushed out from Sambisia forest were desperately looking for soft targets.

This is just as the Kano State governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, assured corps members of adequate sefety and good welfare throughout their service in the state.

General Kazaure made the call  while addressing the 2016 batch ‘’B’’ stream (11) corps members at the NYSC orientation camp, Karaye in Kano.

He urged them to be security conscious at all times, because they [Boko Haram members] had been displaced from their hitherto fortress.

His words: “You are our sons and daughters, and we must protect you against any act capable of causing untold harship or that will affect your lives.’’

After being conducted round some projects rehabilitated and renovated by the NYSC cordinator, Alhaji Ladan Baba, Kazaure said he was impressed with the state of facilities at the camp.

Speaking on behalf of the state governor, the Commissioner of Information, Comrade Mohammed Garba, tasked the NYSC authorities to judiciously maintain all the projects rehabilitated by the government.

He promised the readiness of the government to always render necessary assistance that would improved the welfare and security of corps members in the state.

Earlier, the NYSC coordinator, Alhaji Baba appealed to the government to assist the NYSC by upgrading the capacity of the camp, from 2,500 to 5,000, since there was room for expansion.

He also advised the government to look into honouring achievers in the state through the naming of hostels at the camp.
