Boi community commended on self-help project

The people of Boi in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State have been commended for embarking on the construction of a new police station to enhance security of lives and properties.

The commendation was made by the caretaker chairman of the local government, Markus Bitrus Lusa, during the foundation laying ceremony of the project.

The council boss commended the people for their selfless service and sacrifice for the good of the community, stressing that it was a laudable project.

“I want to commend those who contributed to this project. What you have done is worthy of emulation. I want other communities to learn,” the chairman said.

The local government chairman, represented by his vice, Timothy Andrew, called on philanthropists and well-to-do members of the community to support the police in ensuring safety of lives and properties.

The national president, Boi Progressive Association (BPA), Reverend Philemon Kichime, said the people of Boi will continue to offer police the required moral support to enable them discharge their constitutional duties of protecting and securing the council area effectively.

Kichime further stated that it was observed that the police lacked befitting office accommodation in the community and in order to motivate them to do their job as expected, the community decided to embark on the project.

The BPA’s president disclosed that the new police station comprise reception, armohry, male and female cells and offices.

“The project is being sponsored by some few individuals within the community,” he added.

Kichime urged members of the community to contribute no matter how little to enable the project be completed before the end of the year.

In a remark, the project coordinator, Godiya Haruna, expressed gratitude to those who supported the initiative and pledged to embark on the construction of the magistrate court complex in the community very soon.

Kichime, in a statement signed by the council’s Information Officer, Gomna James, assured that the community will continue to embark on self-help developmental projects, among other things, just as he said that government alone cannot do everything.
