Bobrisky: VeryDarkMan appears before House of Reps for probe

Published by

Social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, have appeared at the National Assembly Complex for a hearing before the joint committee investigating corruption allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

This follows the House of Representatives’ recent decision to establish an ad-hoc committee to probe the allegations.

The resolution came after the adoption of a motion titled “Urgent need to investigate the disturbing allegations of corruption against the EFCC and the NCS to save Nigeria from ridicule,” sponsored by Hon. Patrick Umoh.

In his lead debate, Hon. Umoh raised concerns about widely circulated claims made by Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan) against the EFCC and NCS, calling for a comprehensive investigation.

These claims gained traction after Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to prison in April for naira abuse, accused both agencies of demanding bribes to facilitate his placement in the VIP section of Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.

The controversy deepened after a voice note surfaced, shared by VeryDarkMan, where Bobrisky allegedly claimed that following his conviction, his godfather, with the help of the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment.
