THE Director- General of FCT Water Board, Malam Hudu Bello, has appealed to residents of the territory to be vigilant and monitor activities of scavengers who might want to steal or vandalise water pipes.
The Director-General made the appeal on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Bello said that information at the disposal of the board revealed that some of the scavengers moved around with the intension to steal pipes and resell them.
He said one of the ways such scavengers could be prevented from carrying out their negative activities was for the residents to watch their movement and keep the pipes safe for longer time.
Bello also urged residents to report any pipe burst or leakage to the nearest area office of the board or call the various customer care numbers for prompt attention.
“Am calling on the residents of FCT to monitor water pipes and report pipe burst to the appropriate authority.
‘’This is to enable the board to carryout various maintenance activities on its equipment and the dam, ’’he said.
He, however, called on customers to pay their bills to enable the board continue offering effective services to them.
Bello assured them that the board was working tirelessly to ensure effective of providing potable water to the people of the territory and its environs.
‘’Water is life and should always be available.’’
