Blood pressure and kidney

Kindly let me know how high blood pressure can negatively affect the kidney.

Emeka (by SMS)

High blood pressure damages and eventually can destroy the nephrons in the kidneys. With no nephrons, there will be no filtration of toxins out of your blood. The highest proportion of blood pumped out of your heart – 20% – goes to the kidneys, that’s how important they are. Once a kidney has died, it is dead forever. A kidney is not like the liver which can, within limits, regenerate.
