The Bishop of Lokoja Anglican Diocese, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Egbunu, has called for unity among Christian denominations and a renewed emphasis on soul-winning by believers.
He made the call during a meeting with the President of the United Missionary Church of Africa (UMCA) in Lokoja, Rev. Dr. Gbenga Odebiri.
Bishop Egbunu stressed the need for Christians to come together in love and support amidst the current climate of division and strife.
While acknowledging the diversity of beliefs and practices among different Christian denominations, Bishop Egbunu highlighted the common ground shared by all followers of Christ, emphasizing the importance of working together to spread the Gospel message.
“It is imperative that we set aside our differences and unite in love and harmony to fulfil the Great Commission of making disciples of all nations,” stated Bishop Egbunu.
In addition to promoting unity, Bishop Egbunu urged all believers to refocus their efforts on soul-winning, emphasizing that bringing others to the knowledge of Christ and fostering a personal relationship with Him should be the ultimate goal of every Christian.
To support this renewed focus, the church is launching a series of outreach and evangelism programs aimed at reaching those who have not yet heard the message of salvation. All Christians are encouraged to participate in these efforts and collaborate towards this common goal.
Rev. Dr. Gbenga Odebiri, President of UMCA, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage in an outreach program in Lokoja, dedicated to winning souls for the kingdom of God.
He commended the Anglican Church for sharing the same focus on soul-winning and praised Archbishop Egbunu for his humility and dedication to serving God.
