Benue women protest against herdsmen attacks in black attires

Scores of women in Benue state staged a peaceful protest to the seat of government and decried the herdsmen attacks on the state.

The women who put on black attires to depict the mourning made a clarion call to the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari to rise up as mother of the nation and prevail on her husband to pay more attention to the porous security of the nation.

Led by a former commissioner for women affairs and social development in the state, Mrs. Elizabeth Apedzan stated that as mothers they had decided to storm government house to commiserate with Wife of the Governor of Benue State, Mrs Eunice Ortom over the killing of innocent mothers and children as well as other people in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state.

Mrs. Apedzan stated that Benue women would continue to cry until the president heed to their cry by deploying adequate security to the state to avert further killings .

She described the recent attacks on the state as ‘ethnic cleansing’ and called on president Muhammadu Buhari to rise to the occasion by bringing it to an end.

”We have asked him to denounce his patronship of the Miyetti Allah”, She stated.

While commending the state governor for his efforts so far in maintaining peace in the state, Mrs Akpedzan assured the governor that women in the state would continue to pray and stand with his administration.

Also speaking, wife of the Tor Sankara, Chief Mrs. Elizebath Shuluwa, called on Mrs Ortom to lead a delegation of Benue women to wife of the president Aisha Buhari to speak to her husband to come to the aid of Benue.

Mrs Ortom thanked the women for identifying with such a good cause and promised to stand with them until justice is done and promised to take their message to Abuja.
