Benue supplementary polls: Makurdi streets deserted

Even though there is no election taking place in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, its streets are deserted Saturday morning as policemen have barricaded major arteries in the city.
The state is one of the several states where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared governorship elections inconclusive and scheduled supplementary elections.
However, Makurdi, is not one of the areas where the March 9 polling was canceled and needing supplementary polls.
The outcome of the polls will however be collated in the state capital later in the day necessitating heightened security.
Consequently, security personnel are preventing human and vehicle movement traffic.
