The Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, has embarked on school resumption monitoring exercise to ensure prompt commencement of teaching in public schools for the first term.
The exercise is aimed at ensuring that learning begins immediately, maximizing the academic calendar.
During her visit to various schools in Makurdi on Wedenesday, Dr Adagba emphasized the importance of timely resumption and effective lesson delivery.
He stressed that the Board is committed to enhancing the quality of education by ensuring teachers’ presence and active engagement with students from the first day of the term.
Dr Adagba in a statement by the Information Officer, Emmanuella Akese, encouraged teachers to remain committed to their duties, assuring the public that SUBEB would continue to provide necessary support for a conducive learning environment.
She appreciated the state governor of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for improving teachers’ welfare through prompt payment of salaries and urged teachers to reciprocate this gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties, as the Alia administration strives to ensure their welfare.
During her visit, Dr. Adagba expressed her satisfaction with teachers prompt resumption to school at the beginning of the term and promised to reward the teachers on ground.
She however, directed that teachers who were not present at their duty posts be transferred to their Local Governments of Origin.
“Ensure that your lesson plans are up to date and commence teaching immediately. We will continue to put on strategies to ensure that teachers enjoy the fruits of their labours,” she advised.
She noted that the essence of resumption is not merely being present at school but actively teaching students.
She further provided helplines to students, urging parents to contact her directly if they experience any challenges with the teaching process in schools.
In their separate speeches, The Head Teacher of St Joseph Primary School, Mr Terzungwe Tsetim and a parent, Noble Nick Ahor commended Dr. Adagba for her efforts in monitoring schools to achieve optimal results.
The school resumption monitoring exercise covered several schools in Makurdi, including, LGEA Primary and UBE JSS Owner Occupier, LGEA Primary School Yaikyo, RCM Primary School Poor, St. Joseph Primary and UBE JSS Nyiman, LGEA Primary School Adeke, Holy Family Primary and Junior Secondary School Kanshio, LGEA Primary and Junior Secondary School Wailomayo.
