Benue PDP accepts Supreme Court judgement affirming Gov Alia’s victory

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State said it has accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in favour of the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

According to the statement issued by the party publicity secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, on Monday, the party said it recognised the authority of the courts to interpret the laws made for the good government of Nigeria and accepts the decision of the Supreme Court on the matter in good faith.

The party appreciated its leadership in the state from the immediate past Governor, Samuel Ortom; the party governorship candidate, Titus Uba; the running mate, John Ngbede; and members of the party.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, in Benue State, accepts the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria earlier today over the appeal of the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, challenging the emergence of Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as governor of the state.

“PDP recognises the authority of the courts to interpret the laws made for the good government of Nigeria and accepts the decision of the Supreme Court on the matter in good faith,” the statement read in parts.
