Convener of the group, Leonard Ikyem, declared, “We, the offspring of the dynamic, patriotic and progressive people of the Kwande intermediate area, comprising Kwande and Ushongo local government areas of Benue State, wish to inform the good people of Benue of our desire to renew the Governorship ambition of the Kwande people in 2027.

“As we are all aware, the democratic process in Nigeria will open another chapter in 2027 with fresh opportunities and we intend to mobilize our people to step forward and explore this new frontier.

Ikyem said that the arguments upon which Kwande axis canvassed for the highest elective position in the state, which could not be realized in 2023, still remain valid.

He said that the established tradition of selfless, committed and dedicated service to the people of the state was one of the arguments.

The group assured that if the axis is given another opportunity it will not only sustain that tradition but surpass the yet to be matched milestones achieved by the first executive governor of the state, Aper Aku of blessed memory.

Ikyem who reminisced on how inhabitants of the axis repelled the marauders in the eighteenth century promised that Kwande if giving opportunity would confront the security challenges confronting the state headlong .

“We hereby solicit the support of the Benue electorate as we embark on this noble democratic quest to sustain and actualize our ambition,” Ikyem said.
