Bello warns against marketers of restructuring

Published by

THE Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has charged Nigerians to be wary of many of the people marketing restructuring across the country.

He said many of them were men of the past who had milked the country and siphoned the collective heritage of the people.

Speaking in Achoze, Okene Local Government Area of the state during the inauguration of the Forward Operations Base (FOB) of the Nigerian Army, the governor urged the people to resist any arrangement that could balkanise the country.

According to him, Nigerians should not allow those that had looted their resources in the past to cause crisis with the renewed agitations for the restructuring of the polity.

The governor said Nigeria would achieve greatness if its people, regardless of their tribes and religions,  were united.

Speaking on the project, he said the state government embarked upon it to further improve the security situation in the state.

Bello said, “Available intel also indicates that terrorist elements wish to gain a foothold in the area. Secondly, it is nearly equidistant from other parts of the state and will aid rapid response by the military in all directions.”

He, however, expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Army to utilise the facility in aid of her operations to end criminality in the state, adding that this was critical to achieving the government’s objective of zero incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping and communal clashes.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, said the Nigerian Army was ready to consolidate on the success achieved in curbing crime in the state.

The COAS, who spoke through Major General Rasheed Yusuf, said the army had already put in place measures to block miscreants from operating in the state.

While lauding the governor for his supports to the security agencies, he noted that the FOB was necessitated by the need for the troop to continue operations in Kogi State.

The special adviser to the governor on security matters, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), urged the people to provide information that could aid the fight against crime.
