The Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Friday tasked the members of the state house of assembly to cooperate with his administration in its quest at developing the state.

Besides, the governor also urged the lawmakers to be endear themselves to their constituents and be alive to their constitutional responsibility.

Bello gave the advice while receiving the new leadership of the assembly at the Government House, Lokoja.

He commended the legislators for the peaceful manner through which the process of the new leadership emerged contrary to speculation that there would be rancour in the House.

He also commended the immediate past Speaker, Hon. Umar Imam, for his exemplary leadership and enjoined the new leadership to emulate his maturity and patriotism in the interest of the state.

The governor solicited the cooperation of the lawmakers in his administration’s quest to deliver the gains of democracy to the good people of Kogi State.

The new speaker of the assembly, Matthew Kolawole, on behalf of the lawmakers pledged their loyalty to the governor and promised total commitment to their legislative functions.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Hassan Bewa retained his position, Bello Abdullahi of Ajaokuta constituency is the new majority leader, while Victor Omofaiye, of Ijumu constituency is now the majority whip.
