Bello charting new course for Kogi —Commissioner

The Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Asiwaju Ashiru, has said that the 14 months government of Governor Yahaya Bello, had been charting a new course for the state.

Apart from this, he also admonished Nigerians to keep hope alive with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as it was trying to get the country out of recession.

Idris, who spoke in Lokoja, the state capital, noted that the intervention of the present administration in various sectors of the state had put it on the right track.

The commissioner said the infrastructural development agenda that had led to the rehabilitation and construction of many roads had further opened the economy of the state.

Ashiru stated that the present administration had shown commitment in tackling the security challenges in the state, saying the efforts had already been rewarded by the Inspector General of Police.

He also said the ongoing efforts to reform civil service in the state and blocking all leakages which hitherto milked the sate dry would make more funds available for the development of the state.

On the recent employment in the state, Ashley commended Bello for  employing young graduates particularly the young lawyers employed into the Ministry of Justice as well as those recruited into Forestry Guards.

He added that the governor had introduced fiscal sustainable plans which already being implemented primarily to enhance fiscal discipline and curb financial recklessness in governance.

The commissioner also said recently assented of the 2017 appropriation bill would bring unprecedented development to all nook and cranny of Kogi state.

He enjoined the people of the state therefore to support and pray for the success of governor Yahaya Bello led administration to take Kogi to greater height.
