Yahaya Bello, Kogi State Governor
THE Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Friday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) was ready for a violence and rancour-free local government across the state.
He said the present crop of leaders in the state had redefined politics and were ready to lead among the 36 states in the country.
Addressing party members at a stakeholders meeting ahead of the local government congress at the party secretariat in Lokoja, the state capital, the governor said the party would not tolerate violence and hooliganism during congresses.
Bello said, “We are confident that as we conducted our ward congresses without rancour, that of Saturday and subsequent ones will be devoid of violence. We won’t tolerate violence and thuggery.
“APC belongs to all of us, nobody is being deprived and nobody will be deprived, we are operating under the rule of law to govern our party and the state”.
Speaking, the chairman of the ward and local government congress committee, Bestman Uze-Jumbo, said the committee was prepared to conduct a hitch free congress.
He said the committee was not working with any faction as it was the only authentic committee responsible for the organisation of the congresses.
According to him, all registered members of the party were expected to be at the venues of the congress to participate in the exercise, saying “if anybody think they can go under the mango tree to do what they like, they are just wasting their time”.
