The Director of the NYSC North Central Area Office II, Nasarawa, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, has charged Corps Members of the 2024 Batch C ‘Stream 1’ orientation course posted to Benue State to be problem solvers.
Ogbuogebe gave the charge on Wednesday when she paid an oversight visit to the NYSC secretariat at Wannune in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
She also advised the Corps members not to live in solitude but to interact and make friends freely within the host communities of their service.
While giving the historical background that led to the establishment of the scheme (NYSC) during General Yakubu Gowon, administration, the director encouraged the Corps members to acquaint themselves with the relevant knowledge on NYSC with the thorough study of all NYSC literature provided on camp, especially the bye-laws.
According to her, “Try as much as possible not to live in solitude but interact and make friends freely within the host communities of your service.
“Be security conscious and use the skill acquired through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) to enhance your personal value.”
The director also admonished the corps members to remain prayerful saying it was a gateway to success.
In her welcome remarks, the State Coordinator of NYSC Benue State, Mrs Veronica Garba, who expressed delight at the director’s visit, commended the corps members for their discipline, cooperation, and exemplary behaviour throughout the ongoing orientation programme.
While acknowledging the dedication of the camp officials and encouraging them to sustain their efforts till the end, the state coordinator further briefed the director on other details of the exercise.
