Bayelsa poll: Tension mounts as aspirants step down for Dickson’s anointed candidate

As aspirants make last minute effort to woo delegates ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bayelsa State gubernatorial primary holding today in Yenagoa, aspirants have also started yielding to pressures to step down for the anointed aspirant of the State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson.
Tribune Online learnt the first to step down was the immediate past Chief of Staff, Hon. Talford Ongolo, after series of meeting with his kinsmen in his own town in Oporoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.
It was further gathered that former Chief of Staff agreed to step down on the condition that he would be reappointed and possibly replace the Dickson’s preferred aspirant, Senator Doye Diri, who is presently representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
A reliable source further hinted that another reason Ongolo backed out of the governorship race, his kinsmen openly rejected his ambition during his visit to canvass for the votes of delegates from the area.
However, all attempt to reach Ongolo proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
