Bayelsa: One killed as gunmen ambush pipeline surveillance workers

A deadly attack on pipeline surveillance workers has left one person dead and others severely injured.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 7:45 pm, when a gang of sea pirates led by Godbless Canus Ogun ambushed the workers, who were on their way to deliver food supplies and conduct a crew change.

The victims, who worked for Labrador Security Outfit, were attacked along the Binikurukuru creek, resulting in the tragic death of Mr. Ekerete Odoh, an indigene of Igbomotoru 1 community.

The speedboat driver, Likson Godspower from Ekowe community, sustained severe injuries, including a gunshot wound that severed one of his hands.

The assailants made off with the 200-horsepower engine and boat belonging to Kojo Sam Logistics/Labrador Security Outfit.
