Published by

Following reports of alleged attacks targeted at some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area (KOLGA), the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Joshua Maciver has called on the governor of Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri to call his supporters to order as only peaceful campaigns will guarantee a peaceful election come November 11th, 2023.

Mr MacIver who described the alleged attacks on APC supporters in KOLGA, as an act of provocation that that may escalate into violent clashes ahead of the election, said anyone who misbehaves will be meant to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking further, MacIver who expressed concerns about the escalating violence and threats faced by APC members in the State, especially in Otuan Community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, also questioned Diri’s response.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State PDP Governorship Campaign Council has called on the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services to immediately invite a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Joshua MacIver, for questioning.

Chairman of the campaign council’s Publicity Directorate, Hon. Ayibaina Duba, in a statement issued in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Monday, said Mr. MacIver made inciting comments capable of truncating the peace of the state in a video now in circulation.

MacIver, who is running mate to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, had on Saturday allegedly told APC supporters in the state to drive anyone who misbehaves on Election Day to the sea to die while campaigning at Twon-Brass, in the Brass Local Government Area of the state.

In a 33-second video that has gone viral on social media and obtained by Nigerian Tribune, the former militant leader was heard telling the crowd of APC supporters to be prepared to “throw into the sea anyone that misbehaves on November 11 and ensure the person(s) dies.”
