Professor Yemi Osinbajo
The Bayelsa State Government has concluded plans for rousing
welcome for the acting president, Yemi Osinbajo tomorrow during an
official visit to the state, which is part of his scheduled tour of
the Niger Delta to resolve the multifaceted issues of militancy and
destruction of critical national assets and promote peace in the
region.
This is contained in a government statement made available to
journalists in Yenagoa.
The statement urged senior citizens of the state and Ijaw nation,
opinion leaders, civil society and cleric to turnout and welcomes the
acting president, who is on a peace mission to appraise the contending
issues in the state and region.
It also called on him to access critical areas of the state that needs
prompt intervention by the federal government, stating that Bayelsa is
the epicenter of all the issues as the home land of the Ijaw ethnic
nationality.
The statement reads: also government wants the visiting acting
president to resist every attempt by some persons to use his visit to
score cheap political points by advancing their selfish interest which
is capable of truncating the commencement of a sustained peace process
in the Niger Delta.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Police command has also assured of
adequate security in the upland areas and riverine communities for the
visiting acting president, Yemi Osinbajo.
The statement reads: the general public and well-meaning Bayelsans,
that His Excellency Professor Yemi Osinbajo GCON, the acting president
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will be visiting Bayelsa State on
the 10th February, 2017.
The State Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba said the Acting President
will lead a high-level delegation of the Federal Government and will
interact with traditional rulers, Eminent Bayelsans and members of
conflict resolution committees.
He noted that the high powered consultation meeting would hold at the
DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Government house, and Yenagoa.
Amba, who noted that attendance, is strictly on invitation, warned
that loitering and unlawful gatherings would not be tolerated, as
adequate security measures have been put in place to curtail
activities of miscreants.
To this end, the state police boss advice law abiding citizens to go
about their lawful and legitimate business without fear of
molestation.
