As the election process towards the 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa State unfold, a front line Civil Society Organisation, Sustainable Initiative for Nurturing Growth SING, has officially opened its election Situation room in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State capital, just as it cautioned against violence, during the Saturday governorship election. The group also urged Bayelsa citizens to be peaceful, as they prepare, to go to the polls, and adhere to democratic concepts and ideas.
Speaking at a Press Conference in Yenegoa on Tuesday on behalf of the organization, Mr Mohammed Basah said the SING situation room is opened for citizens and elections observers, to candidly report on the process of the election, through real-time observations shared on social media and other platforms.

Flanked by other officials of the organization, Mr Mohammed said the SING Situation Room will provide pre-election analysis and track the elections in real time as they evolve, while also analyzing all kinds of information on actions of voters, security personnel, election officials and candidates.
SING also said it will be working with partners such as the Women Arise, Centre for Public Accountability and other leading Civil Society partners to avouch the legitimacy of the official election results for the public.
According to SING, “we are not unaware of plans by some politicians, to instigate violence during the election, but we wish to assure that we will work with INEC and the various security agencies in real time, to expose such plans, before, during and after the governorship election.”
