Bauchi’s First Lady inaugurates governing board for ALAYAHBI homecare

The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad, has affirmed her readiness to partner with indigenous groups to reduce maternal, perinatal, and neonatal deaths in the state.

To that effect, the First Lady inaugurated the Governing Board for a community-based organisation, ALAYAHBI Women and Children Health Home Care and Welfare, in furtherance of ongoing health reforms in the state.

The First Lady, who was represented by the Director of Women Affairs at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Bauchi State, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi, commended the organisation for its foresight to serve humanity by promoting access to quality healthcare services for the rural populace.

Aisha Bala Mohammed assured that the CBO would be supported to ensure that its set objective of taking care of women’s and children’s health was not only achieved but sustained.

She then urged members of the Governing Board to work assiduously in tandem with the objectives set for the organisation, stressing that if women’s and children’s health is better handled, society will be better for it.

Earlier in her welcome address, the founder of the organisation, Hajiya Binta Abdulkarim, said that the organisation’s objective is to increase access to quality healthcare for women and children in rural communities to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths.

Hajiya Binta added that the organisation would provide relevant data and insight to guide the development of referrals and follow-ups for an effective healthcare system, among other things.

In his response, the new Chairman of the Board and former Grand Khadi of Bauchi State, Alh. Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa commended the initiative and promised to play a fatherly role in the organisation.
