Stakeholders in Bauchi South Senatorial District comprising politicians, academics, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths and other opinion leaders have challenged the Senator representing the area, Sen Shehu Buba Umar to give them effective representation which will positively impact the well-being of the Constituents and its development.
The stakeholders, during an engagement held at an Event Center on Saturday, lamented that the area has been left behind in every facet of growth and development calling on the Senator to change the narrative as a member of the NASS.
The politicians amongst the speakers wondered the reason the area cannot have one out of the two Ministers appointed from the State during the 8 years of President Muhammadu Buhari and the present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
They also observed that almost all the Federal highways in the area particularly Bauchi-Gombe highway are completely dilapidated thereby causing untold hardship for the people in moving around smoothly.
The stakeholders also stressed the need for the Senator to use his office to complete all ongoing or abandoned Federal projects in the area particularly roads, water and agriculture.
The Senator was reminded of the spate of insecurity in the area particularly in Alkaleri and Toro LGAs urging him to work with other elected representatives of the area in order to fashion out a workable and effective security system.
Religious leaders in their submission, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence as religious tolerance because according to them, that is the only way development can thrive.
As for the traditional institutions, the Senator was administered to accord the institution the desired respect considering that traditional rulers are custodians of culture and traditions of the people.
The representative of the traditional rulers in the area called for constitutional roles for the institution urging the Senator to agitate for that anytime the Constitution is to be amended.
In their own submission, the Academia urged the Senator to take education very seriously by putting in place, educational endorsement that will support indigent students in their educational pursuit.
They further urged the Senator to sponsor a bill that will regulate the cost of education in the country considering the hardship parents are facing in paying the bills of their children and wards.
At the end of engagement, the stakeholders commended the representation of Sen Shehu Buba Umar expressing satisfaction that it has been good so far so good though more positivity can be achieved.
He was however advised to cooperate with the present administration in the state in spite of the political differences between them stressing that it is no longer time for playing politics but teaming up to deliver for the people.
