Bauchi PRP exco accepts resignation of chairman, names Gwadabe as replacement

Published by

Few days after tendering his letter of resignation as a member and Chairman of the Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRO), the party has accepted the resignation of Shehu Barau Ningi.

The acceptance was contained in a resolution of the state executive committee meeting of the party held on Fiday in Bauchi, the state capital.

According to the resolution: “Bauchi State Executive Committee of the Peoples Redemption Party [PRP] met today, Friday 23rd day of October, 2020 specifically convened to consider urgent current matters within the Party.”

The resolution further stated that the State Executive Committee accepted the resignation of the former Chairman of the party, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi, from the position of Bauchi State Chairmanship of the party and wished him success in his future endeavours.

Subsequently, the State Executive Committee appointed a lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Gwadabe, as the new State chairman of the party pending convention.

The resolutions according to the release issued were reached in line with the PRP’s Constitution (as amended) and in the best interest of the party.

It will be recalled that earlier last week, Ningi had notified the party of his decision to resign as a member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and as Chairman of the Bauchi State chapter of the party.

In the letter, he wrote that “Although, it is not mandatory to give reason(s) for this type of decision, it is traditional to highlight the circumstances that might account for it. Mine is a story and catalogue of very bitter personal experiences which began soon after my assumption of office to chair the party in the state, through the 2019 electioneering campaign and subsequent elections, up to this moment of writing this letter of exit.”

He further wrote that “The situation at the National Headquarters of the party has also been debilitating. The National leadership is in crisis as the Board of Trustees and The National Executive Committee (NEC) have been at loggerheads with the latter being frustrated and becoming aggressive. This ugly situation is denting the image of the party and making its future grim, bleak and dismal.”
