The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Police, on Saturday, commenced the enforcement of the third-party vehicle insurance policy in line with the directive from the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, urged all personnel involved in the enforcement exercise to uphold professionalism and integrity throughout the process.
The initiative, which aligns with Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1 to 3 of the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act, mandates all vehicle owners to secure a minimum of third-party insurance before operating their vehicles on Nigerian roads.
CP Muhammad emphasised the critical importance of public trust and confidence in the police force, stressing that any breaches of conduct during the exercise would have serious consequences.
The Commissioner also urged all vehicle owners in the state to ensure their insurance documents are up-to-date, promoting a safer driving environment for everyone.
