Bauchi: Police arrest two for alleged rape

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Bala Mohammed aged 67 for allegedly raping two girls after luring them with money into his room.

According to the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili, “On the 22nd June 2024, at about 1500hrs, one Abubakar Danladi aged 43 and One Umar Ismail aged 65 of Unguwan Mahaukata, Bauchi, reported the development at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters.

They reported that one Bala Mohammed aged 67, lured their daughters one Safiya (not real name) aged 17 and Hassana (not real name)16 both of the same address into his room and had carnal knowledge of them and thereafter gave them N500 each, the victims stated that he had canal knowledge of them each, up to five times.

During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and corroborated the victim’s statement while the investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be profiled and charged to court.

Also, on 04 July 2024 at about 1200hrs one Hajiya (not real name) of Behind NITEL OFFICE, Bauchi, reported at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi that on the same date at about 1150hrs, one Suleiman Musa aged 28 of same address, lured her daughter, one Amina (not real name) aged 9 of same address, into his room situated at same area while she was on errand and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

During interrogation, the suspect freely confessed to have committed the crime, investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution for the established offence.
