Bauchi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated five constitutional committees in its resolve to have a vibrant and effective leadership.
The Committees constituted and inaugurated by the Council Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu at the Conference Hall of the NUJ Press Center are: Ethics and Disciplinary, Education and Training, Press Center Management and Development, Press Conference.
While inaugurating the Committees, Umar Sa’idu charged the members to work based on the terms of reference in line with the relevant provisions of the NUJ Constitution.
According to him, the Committees are necessary in order to drive the activities of the Council as planned by the leadership of the Council stressing that the Committees are to complement the agenda of the Council.
On the delay in constitution and inauguration of the Committees, Umar Sa’idu explained that it was due to the case instituted against the Council by a few members which dragged on for almost one year which the Council eventually won.
He appealed for cooperation from the Committees to enable the Council to achieve its set objectives of moving the Union forward positively in line with the overall objective of NUJ as an entity.
Responding on behalf of the Committees, Chairman of the Elders Advisory Committee, Inuwa Bello commended the NUJ leadership for thinking it necessary to constitute the Committees and inaugurate them.
He further commended the foresight of the Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu for bringing positive changes in the leadership of the Council since he was elected alongside other members of the SWC.
Inuwa Bello assured that the Committees will ensure that the mandate was delivered for the smooth operation of the Union and welfare of the members.
