 Bauchi NUJ ethics and disciplinary committee presents action plan to the council for approval

Ethics and Disciplinary Committee set up by the current leadership of the Bauchi State council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ ) aimed at ensuring that members operate within the ethical standard of the profession, on Tuesday, presented an action plan to the council for approval of implementation.
Chairman of the Committee, Mohammed Sani Mohammed accompanied by the Secretary, Ishola Michael Adeyemi, presented the draft action plan to the Chairman of Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu in his office at the NUJ Secretariat, Bauchi.
Mohammed Sani Mohammed said that the 2021 action plan developed by the Committee if approved for implementation, will assist the state council of the NUJ in enforcing compliance to the ethics of the profession by all practitioners in the state.
According to him, when implemented, the action plan will improve the practice of Journalism in Bauchi State thereby safeguarding and protecting the image of the profession as Journalists will be viewed with respect and dignity.
He said, “Mr Chairman, we are grateful to you for finding us worthy to serve in this very important assignment, today we are here to present to you the action plan we developed which we believe is for the good of journalism in Bauchi State.”
The committee Chairman while thanking the state council of the NUJ for supporting the committee to discharge its assignment effectively, reassured of its commitment to assist the council to achieve the desired objectives.
While Responding, the Bauchi State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, said that the council deemed it necessary to set up the committee in order to contribute to equipping members of NUJ in the state with the basic guidelines of practising the profession.
Comrade Umar Sa’idu also said that the council will study the action plan critically for possible implementation for the growth and development of journalism in the state.
He said, “On behalf of the leadership of NUJ in Bauchi State, we want to thank you for a good job, I have no regret in appointing you to serve in this committee.”
The NUJ Chairman concluded that “We will soon bring all the committees we set up under our leadership together so as to work out modalities of improving the activities of the council in Bauchi State.”
