In a resolve to boost school enrollment and reduce out-of-school children, Bauchi LGA in Bauchi state has launched a school enrollment campaign.
The campaign was launched by the Caretaker Chairperson of the LGA, Hon. Zainab Baba Takko, who explained that the program is directly aimed at enrolling more children in school as well as meeting their various basic needs as it may arise.
Zainab BabbaTakko stressed that it is in line with the effort of the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed’s administration towards the transformation and growth of the education sector in the State.
She added that the programme is to save the LGA from the issue of out-of-school children as well as put education back on track through robust education environment.
Zainab Baban Takko stressed that the Council took the bold steps of meeting with all the stakeholders in the education sector in the LGA for support and cooperation towards achieving the desired objectives.
According to her, the stakeholders met, included traditional institutions, religious scholars and other relevant stakeholders, which culminated in the launching of the project to ensure that everyone sent their children to school.
The Caretaker Chairperson assured that the program will be duly monitored and supervised by the relevant stakeholders to meet the set objectives within a short period.
She also said that it will meet the aspirations of the Governor in terms of desired needs of the masses of Bauchi State of a standard and quality education.
She then promised to join hands with both the state, federal government, and even international organizations in terms of improving and transforming the education sector of Bauchi LGA and the entire state at large.
Zainab BabbaTakko further called on the attention of Teachers, pupils and parents of children who directly care about the right to quality education, to join hands in teamwork by ensuring their children get access to quality education, which will make them reliable and effective members of the society.
The Chairperson said that the Bala Mohammed-led administration will never take it lightly with parents who refuse to allow their children have access to quality education.
She then drew the attention of the parents and teachers to stand up because they are the closest to the pupils and keep an eye on how everything will be done to achieve success.
During the launch, uniforms, school sandals, books, school bags, and all the things needed to learn and teach the pupils were distributed by the Caretaker Chairperson to the children.
Various participants at the event applauded the Caretaker Chairperson for such effective and projective ideas expressing confidence that it will boost school enrollment in the LGA.
The programme was attended by representatives of international partners including, UNICEF, USAID, the Ministry of Education, SUBEB, the PTA Association, and other relevant stakeholders in the education sector.
