Bauchi Health Commissioner visits Rijiyan Malam Maternity Center

Published by

Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr Adamu Sambo Umar, visited Rijiyan Malam Community Maternity Centre along Jos Road in Toro Local Government of the State on an assessment visit on Tuesday.

Adamu Sambo said he used the Eid el Kabir Sallah period to visit and inspect some health facilities in the state to see the level of performance of the community health centres with a view to improving and encouraging the medical personnel working in the rural areas of the state and seeing projects to crunch time.

While going around the newly renovated maternity, the commissioner appreciated the level of work done, which has reached more than 95 per cent of the finishing stage.

During an interaction with the community leaders of the village, he called on them to give maximum support and cooperation to the workers in the centre and assist in safeguarding the maternity.

He then promised to rehabilitate the maternity borehole to end the water shortage being faced by the maternity, as earlier appealed by the community leaders.

He also pledged to provide the maternity centre with supporting and casual staff to minimise the shortage of medical personnel in the centre.

The medical personnel in charge of the maternity, Mrs Ladi Zull, thanked the commissioner for the visit, described it as an encouragement, and promised to rededicate herself to her duty to the best of her ability.

Earlier in their separate addresses, before the Hon. Commissioner, Sarkin Gasuwo, Malam Dahiru Umaru, Mai, and Anguwa Isa Danladi showed their appreciation for the visit, describing it as one of its kind in their area.

They hailed him, taking into consideration the concern of the Hon. Commissioner to promote and improve the standard of the health sector in the state.

The community leaders said there was no doubt that the fact that State Governor Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed appointed him to lead the sector was not accidental.

The community leaders commended the nurse in charge of the maternity for her punctuality, dedication, and efforts in assisting and attending to the patients.

They, however, appealed to the Commissioner to assist with more dedicated staff, provisions of water and health facilities, equipment, and staff quarters in the ongoing rehabilitation, and concluded by praying for God’s guidance in the discharge of his assignments and service to the state.
