Bauchi health commissioner lauds IDH workers for dedication, resilience

Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam has commended healthcare workers at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Bayara, for their dedication and resilience, especially during the challenging times of health emergencies.

The Commissioner made the commendation when he paid an inspection visit to the IDH in Bayara, a suburb of the Bauchi metropolis to assess the level of ongoing renovation, remodelling and upgrading of facilities at the Hospital in line with the State’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and service delivery.

He assured the workers that the State Government recognizes their efforts and is working tirelessly to improve their working conditions, provide necessary resources, and ensure a safe and conducive environment for both staff and patients.

Dambam also interacted with hospital management and staff and listened to their concerns and suggestions on how to make the hospital more efficient after the renovation.

He also assured them that their recommendations would be considered in the final phase of the project to ensure that the renovated facility meets both local and global healthcare standards.

The visit was part of the State Government’s broader strategy to revamp and strengthen healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that the people of the State have access to quality and efficient medical services, especially in the management of infectious diseases.

During the visit, Dambam, accompanied by top officials from the Ministry of Health, inspected ongoing renovation works at the facility.

The renovation is geared towards modernizing the hospital, upgrading its equipment, improving patient wards, and enhancing laboratory services to meet international health standards.

The effort underscores the state’s preparedness to handle any potential outbreaks of infectious diseases effectively, while also providing world-class medical care to patients suffering from such illnesses.

The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress of the renovation so far but emphasized the need for speedy and quality completion of the project.

He stated that the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) is a critical health institution in the fight against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, cholera, Lassa fever, COVID-19, and other emerging health threats.

Therefore, its renovation is not just about physical infrastructure but also about building resilience within the healthcare system of Bauchi State.

The Commissioner highlighted that the renovation aligns with the vision of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of the Governor to prioritize healthcare delivery and ensure that all citizens, regardless of their background, have access to affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare services.

According to him, the Government is committed to investing in healthcare facilities, training of medical personnel, and procurement of modern medical equipment to improve service delivery across the state.

The Commissioner called on the contractors handling the renovation project to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and quality workmanship.

He stressed the importance of timely completion without compromising on quality, as the hospital will play a vital role in managing not only current health challenges but also future outbreaks.

This inspection visit marked another milestone in Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam’s proactive approach to transforming the healthcare landscape of Bauchi State.

His visionary leadership, dedication, and passion for public health continue to inspire confidence among the people of Bauchi State, as the government strives to build a robust and sustainable healthcare system.
