Bauchi govt to turn airport to regional hub

A 7 man Technical team from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has visited the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi on inspection just as the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has expressed the readiness of his administration to turn the airport to regional hub.

Bala Mohammed who received the 7 Man Technical team of the NCAA at the Government House, Bauchi on Thursday observed that turning the airport to a regional hub will enable Nigerians to travel to major cities of the world notably UAE, China, and Saudi Arabia.

The Governor while lamenting the huge bills the state incurs from the aviation agencies to the tune of N700,000m, said that he will look at all options including concession.

He added, ” I thank you very much for visiting me, I appreciate what you are doing considering the fact that I worked in the aviation industry. I intend to turn the airport as a regional hub to enable Nigerians to travel to major cities of the world.”

Bala Mohammed, therefore, promised to look into their observations and recommendation so as to ensure effective service delivery.

Leader of the delegation, who is the General Manager, Air Navigation Standards, Ahmed Abba, said that the visit was to conduct a surveillance inspection to assess the airport facilities, equipment, and services so as to ensure compliance with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations.

He said that ” Your Excellency, this visit is part of the regulatory oversight functions of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority” as contained in a statement by Lawal Muazu Bauchi, S. A New Media to the Governor.
