Bauchi govt inaugurates committee on implementation of reading framework policy

A state-level National Reading Framework Steering and Technical Committee has been inaugurated in Bauchi State to review the terms of reference for the implementation of the national reading framework policy.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Habizal Suites, Bauchi where the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, charged the committee members to work together collaboratively towards achieving the objectives set out by the policy.

In her inaugural address, Dahiru emphasised the importance of team effort and urged the committee members to strictly adhere to the terms of reference of the policy to ensure that the educational needs of students in the state are effectively met.

In an overview presentation on the reading framework commitment, assumptions, and classification, Jummai Sarki, a Learn-to-Read Programme Advisor, highlighted the critical role of all stakeholders in ensuring the success of the initiative.

She advocated for early intervention to teach children how to read and write from a young age and emphasized the importance of dedicated and experienced management and staff in schools.

Jummai Sarki also stressed the need for providing training and teaching aids to facilitate an effective learning process in the state.

Abubakar Abdullahi, a Budget Planning and Policy Reference Specialist, summarized and explained the ten national reading framework work commitments, assumptions, and classifications to the participants.

His insights provided a clear roadmap for the committee members to follow as they embark on this important task of enhancing literacy levels among students in Bauchi State.

The inauguration of the State-Level National Reading Framework Steering and Technical Committee signals a renewed commitment by the Bauchi State Government to prioritize education and improve literacy outcomes for students.

With a dedicated team and a clear set of objectives, the committee is poised to make significant strides in advancing reading proficiency and academic excellence in the state.
