Bauchi governor assures residents of equity, fair treatment

BAUCHI State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has reiterated his administration’s resolve  to continue to give equal treatment to people of the state irrespective of political affiliation, nationality and ethnicity just as he said that as far as he is concerned,  there are no second-class citizens in the state as all citizens are equal and are living peacefully without discrimination of any form.

The Governor stated this on Wednesday when a delegation of Islamic Scholars from the Kingdom of Morocco, Algeria, United States of America, Malaysia and Senegal under the leadership of the Grand Khalifa of Tijjaniya,  Sheikh Muhammadu Kabir paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Bauchi.
He said that “From the inception of my administration on May 29, 2015, I set out a machinery in motion to have a state where all and sundry will live together in peace, unity and Harmony. The idea is to give a sense of belonging to the people of the state irrespective of religious or ethnic inclinations.”

Mohammed Abubakar further reiterated the government determination and commitment towards ensuring promoting peaceful coexistence among the followers of the two religion in the state assuring that no one will be discriminated against because of ethno-religious and political sentiment.
The Governor then thanked the delegation for the visit and called on the Scholars to continue to pray for peace and stability of Bauchi state in particular and the country at large more so now that the country is preparing for the 2019 general elections.
While speaking earlier on the purpose of the visit, Sheikh Mahiy Nyass from Senegal commended the Governor for exhibiting exemplary leadership style qualities and how Nigerians hold their religious leaders in high esteem.
While introducing the Scholars to the Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, said the Islamic scholars were in Bauchi state as a stopover to attend the international Maulud (a religious event) in Gombe state aimed at showcasing the strength of Islam and improving the relationship among Muslim faithful in the world.
