Bauchi gov read riot acts, warns politicians against using thugs to cause violence

BAUCHI State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has warned politicians against using thugs to perpetrate violence in the state, warning that his administration will not condone such acts, especially as the state prepares for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections this Saturday.

The Governor stated this Thursday when he paid a sympathy visit to some patients injured by political thugs during recent political violence who are presently receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

A visibly angry Governor said that Bauchi State has remained the most peaceful state in the North-East and wondered why some politicians who are desperate for power were trying to tarnish the good image of the state.

Mohammed Abubakar said that “Bauchi state is now the safest and peaceful state in the Northeast-east, but unfortunately some desperate politicians are trying to smear the image of the state. As a government, we will not fold our arms and allow some people to create chaos in the state. I have directed security agents to fish out the perpetrators of the dastard act and anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.”

He then called on the people of the state to come out en masse on Saturday to exercise their franchise during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections assuring them of their security before, during and after the election.

It would be recalled that during the victory celebration of the President some political thugs had gone on a rampage destroying the property of innocent people while some of the people were attacked by the hoodlums and wounded at various degrees.
