Bauchi gov hails Justice Tsanmani over PEPT’s judgement against PDP, others

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has described the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in the 2023 general elections as one of the most landmark judgements ever delivered in the country. 

The Governor said this on Saturday during a reception organised in honour of Justice Haruna Tsanmani who was Chairman of the Tribunal and recently elevated to the Apex court of the land. 

Bala Mohammed, who was the special guest of honour declared, “Though the judgement was against my political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it remains a landmark judgement delivered based on the facts available to the panel of Justices.”

The Governor added, “Justice Haruna Tsanmani is one of the finest we have around here. He is a humble, gentle and honest person, virtues he has displayed in all the places he has served before coming to this height. He is a man who needed to be celebrated.

“I never attempted to approach him as a brother throughout the period of the case because he is not even approachable. He stood for firmness and justice as was delivered in the judgement.

“When he was delivering the judgement, I could see intelligence and experience coming into play. He exudes incorruptibility, fairness and accountability in the discharge of his professional calling.”

Continuing, the Governor said, “Judge Haruna Tsammani continues to be a symbol of justice and an inspiration for his unwavering commitment to peaceful activism and his fight for equality and social justice throughout the Nigerian Judicial System.” 

Bala Mohammed also pledged to continue working with relevant parties to improve the legal system and guarantee prompt case resolution.

According to him, the Nigerian Judicial System and Bauchi State are extremely proud of Justice Haruna Tsammani’s legacy in the legal system, which traces his history both inside the state and across the country as an astute, knowledgeable, experienced, and incorruptible judge whose career has been marked by unwavering dedication and commitment to advancing society.

In his remarks, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his unavailing support and the good works that he has been displaying for the growth and transformation of Bauchi State, including infrastructural developments, unity, and the peaceful coexistence of the inhabitants of the state. 

He further thanked everyone who attended the event and prayed for Journey’s mercy. 

Various distinguished personalities at the event congratulated Justice Haruna Tsammani for his remarkable uplift and prayed for his protection.
